<p>Oklahoma City Thunder star <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nba/players/60411" href="https://thescore.com/nba/players/60411">Shai Gilgeous-Alexander</a> isn't allowing fatigue to be an excuse after their Game 3 loss to the Indiana Pacers.</p><p>"You got to suck it up," Gilgeous-Alexander said Thursday, according to <a href="https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/45501105/okc-gilgeous-alexander-late-game-fatigue-got-suck-up">ESPN's Tim MacMahon</a>. "There's a maximum four games left in the season. It's what you worked the whole season for. It's what you worked all summer for. To me, the way I see it, you got to suck it up, get it done and try to get a win."</p><p>The Pacers targeted Gilgeous-Alexander on both ends of the court Wednesday as they took a 2-1 lead in the Finals.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>According to ESPN, Indiana began defending the MVP an average of 65.5 feet away from the basket when he was bringing the ball up, the furthest of any game in his career.</p><p>The Pacers only allowed SGA to bring the ball up 23 times, his second fewest in a game this postseason. They also blitzed him 12 times, the most he's ever faced in a playoff game, according to ESPN Research. As a result, he was forced into six turnovers - a playoff career high.</p><p>On the defensive end, Gilgeous-Alexander was the primary defender for 22 field-goal attempts, his most in a postseason contest.</p><p>"I think we're trying to make it tough on him," Pacers guard <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nba/players/102757" href="https://thescore.com/nba/players/102757">Andrew Nembhard</a> said. "The biggest thing is just you're persistent, trying to make it tough on him. It's a team job. We all have to be locked in and tied together on that end of the floor to get it done."</p><p>The Pacers pulled away in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Thunder 32-18. Gilgeous-Alexander was held to three points on 1-of-3 shooting with no assists in the final frame. However, he doesn't believe Indiana's speed and physicality led to his subpar finish.</p><p>"I'm not too sure. I don't think so," Gilgeous-Alexander said when asked if the Pacers wore him down late. "It's a physical game. We've had plenty of physical games. We've had games like that where I've been great late, games where I've stunk late. I don't think it was anything out the blue, anything I hadn't seen before."</p><p>The Thunder will look to rebound Friday to even the series.</p><p> </p>

<p>The Atlanta Hawks are finalizing deals to bring on New Orleans Pelicans general manager Bryson Graham as senior vice president of basketball operations and Philadelphia 76ers executive Peter Dinwiddie as senior vice president of strategy and analytics, sources told <a href="https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/45479637/sources-hawks-adding-pelicans-gm-76ers-exec-front-office">ESPN's Shams Charania</a>.</p><p>Graham joined the Pelicans' front office as a basketball operations intern for the 2010-11 campaign. He served multiple roles with the franchise before being named general manager last offseason.</p><p>New Orleans fired executive vice president David Griffin in April and replaced him with Joe Dumars.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>Dinwiddie has worked for the 76ers since October 2020, and he previously spent 14 seasons with the Indiana Pacers. </p><p>The Hawks fired general manager Landry Fields in April after missing the playoffs with a 40-42 record. He understands that. I think that's one of the roles he's gotten really good at and grown at, and it just makes our team better."</p><p>Gilgeous-Alexander posted a game-high 34 points Sunday. It was his 11th game this postseason with at least 30 points and five assists. That total matches the most by a player during a single postseason, according to ESPN Research.</p><p>The MVP scored 38 points in the Game 1 loss to the Pacers. His 72 points in the series are the most by a player in his first two Finals games, surpassing the previous record set by Hall of Famer Allen Iverson.</p><p>"You can mark down 34 points before they even get on the plane tomorrow for the next game," Pacers coach Rick Carlisle said.</p><p>Game 3 will take place in Indiana on Wednesday with the series tied at 1-1.</p>

"He will make a full recovery and be back better than ever."</p><p>Edey averaged 9.2 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game in 2024-25, earning All-Rookie first-team honors and finishing fifth in Rookie of the Year voting. New York reportedly believes a new voice will serve as the focus for the organization's next step of winning a championship.</p><p>New York has yet to officially request to speak to Kidd, sources told <a href="https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/45465499/sources-knicks-interested-speaking-jason-kidd-opening">ESPN's Shams Charania and Tim MacMahon</a>. <p>The NBA All-Star Game is getting a new format once again.</p><p>NBA commissioner Adam Silver said the 2026 game will showcase some version of Team USA vs. Team World.</p><p>"Next year, as part of our new media deal, the All-Star Game returns to NBC," Silver said on FS1's "<a href="https://x.com/BrkfstBallOnFS1/status/1930266246366318898">Breakfast Ball</a>." "And it so happens that next season will be smack in the middle of the Winter Olympics. So, in fact, the game will be on NBC, and the very day we're on, the lead-in will be Winter Olympic events, and then coming out of the All-Star Game, which is now gonna be in the afternoon instead of the evening, there'll be more Olympic events.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>"So what better time to feature some form of USA against the world. I'm not exactly sure what the format will be yet. I paid a lot of attention to what the NHL did, which was a huge success. But also going back to last summer, our Olympic competition was a huge success."</p><p>Milwaukee Bucks star <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nba/players/30611" href="https://thescore.com/nba/players/30611">Giannis Antetokounmpo</a> has publicly supported the idea of a Team USA vs. Team World All-Star Game on multiple occasions. </p><p>Antetokounmpo said the format would give him "<a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///news/3219734" href="https://thescore.com/news/3219734">extra juice to compete</a>" following the 2025 weekend. He also said last month that it'd be "<a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///news/3292163" href="https://thescore.com/news/3292163">must-see basketball</a>."</p><p>Silver floated the idea of an <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///news/3277575" href="https://thescore.com/news/3277575">international format</a> for the 2026 All-Star Game back in April.</p><p>The NBA used a mini-tournament format at this year's All-Star Game but announced in March that it wouldn't return.</p><p>The 2026 All-Star Game will take place Feb. 15 at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles.</p>

<p>New York Knicks center <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nba/players/37817" href="https://thescore.com/nba/players/37817">Karl-Anthony Towns</a> underwent treatment on his bruised left knee and to repair ligament damage on a finger in his left hand, sources told <a href="https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/45448458/sources-karl-anthony-towns-treated-knee-finger-injuries">ESPN's Ramona Shelburne</a>.</p><p>The finger issue occurred in Game 3 of Round 2 against the Boston Celtics, and the knee injury in the Eastern Conference finals against the Indiana Pacers, Shelburne adds.</p><p>Even with the injuries, Towns averaged 21.4 points, 11.6 rebounds, and 1.3 assists on 48.8% shooting from the field and 35.1% from three in the postseason.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>Towns' injuries were re-examined after New York's elimination Saturday, and he chose to immediately undergo the procedures to have the most time possible to recover before next season, Shelburne reports.</p><p>The Knicks acquired Towns from the Minnesota Timberwolves last offseason. He was named to the All-Star Game and the All-NBA third team in his first season in New York.</p>

Here's a look at seven of the most intriguing storylines entering the championship series. </em></p><h3>SGA could be 1st in 10 years to win MVP, championship in same season</h3><p>The last regular-season MVP to win the NBA championship the same season was the Golden State Warriors' Stephen Curry in 2014-15. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is looking to accomplish the feat. He won MVP after leading the NBA in regular-season scoring with 32.7 points per game, and his success has carried into the postseason. Gilgeous-Alexander is averaging 29.8 points, 5.7 rebounds, 6.9 assists, and 1.6 steals in these playoffs and earned this year's Magic Johnson Trophy, given to the most valuable player in the Western Conference finals.</p><p>Gilgeous-Alexander could also do what Curry couldn't in 2015: Get Finals MVP honors. Curry missed out thanks to the performance of Andre Iguodala. Still, those unidentified dozen are very likely regretting their answer now.</p><p>Haliburton's immediate response to the poll was a 21-point, 12-rebound performance to beat the Milwaukee Bucks in Game 2 of Round 1. Now, he's leading Indiana to its first Finals in a quarter-century after a historic 32-point triple-double with zero turnovers in Game 4 against the New York Knicks. Puma, with which he's signed, <a href="https://x.com/NickDePaula/status/1928091702717239477">unveiled</a> an "Overrate That" T-shirt in the aftermath of that ridiculous stat line.</p><h3>The best Thunder team of all time?</h3><p>Despite the limitations that come with playing in a smaller market, like less national coverage and difficulty attracting free agents, the Thunder have boasted an absurd assortment of talent since they took root in Oklahoma City for the 2008-09 season. Their short-lived Big Three of Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, and James Harden made the Finals in 2012 and has represented the peak of Thunder basketball.</p><p>Mark Daigneault's current squad will probably unseat the Big Three era as the best in Thunder history. On paper, there aren't many sides that could slow down that old OKC group, but the defensive acumen sprinkled throughout this year's roster would likely provide an edge against Durant and Co. The 6-foot-11 big man could cash in with a massive deal in this summer's relatively weak free-agent class. Turner has been the anchor of the Pacers' defense for most of the last seven seasons. He's led the league in blocks twice (2018-19, 2020-21) during that span and is averaging a team-high 2.4 blocks per game this postseason.</p><p>The 29-year-old is also averaging<strong> </strong>15.2 points per game in the playoffs, third on Indiana. Turner excels on the perimeter despite his large frame; he shot a career-high 39.6% from deep during the regular season and has followed that up with a 40.3% mark in the postseason.</p><h3>Carlisle seeks 2nd underdog triumph</h3><p>Somewhat lost amid three dominant series victories over the Bucks, 64-win Cleveland Cavaliers, and Knicks is head coach Rick Carlisle marching into his second NBA Finals. The 65-year-old, who helmed the Dallas Mavericks in 2011 during their only title run in franchise history, has prepared Indiana to perfection throughout this postseason. His adjustments after setbacks have been critical, too; the Pacers are 4-0 in games after losses this postseason, during which they've averaged over 121 points and a margin of victory of 18.</p><p>Against Oklahoma City, Carlisle finds himself in a similar predicament to his 2011 triumph. Few expected those Mavericks to topple the Miami Heat's vaunted Big Three, much like how many are <a href="https://www.nba.com/news/2025-nba-finals-predictions-pacers-thunder">predicting</a> the Thunder will brush aside the Pacers. No matter who wins, this will be the fourth consecutive year that a Canadian becomes a champion.</p><p>The series also serves as an Olympic preview with the SGA-Haliburton matchup. Gilgeous-Alexander is a lock to be the star of Canada for the next decade at least, and Haliburton's widely expected to take the reins from Stephen Curry as the USA's starting guard in the near future. A battle between these two All-Stars could become a regular thing in the NBA and the Summer Games.</p><h3>OKC's home-court advantage </h3><p>What the Thunder have done at home this postseason is absurd. They've been practically untouchable throughout the playoffs, going 8-1 at Paycom Center and beating opponents by an average margin of 24.6 points.</p><p>The Thunder have won five home games these playoffs by 25-plus points, and four of those were by 30-plus. They hit the ground running with a 51-point beatdown of the Memphis Grizzlies in Game 1 of the first round. Game 1 of the Finals takes place June 5, exactly one month since the Thunder last lost a home contest.</p>

<p>The Denver Nuggets will not renew the contracts of assistant coaches Ryan Saunders, Popeye Jones, Charles Klask, and Stephen Graham, sources told <a href="https://x.com/ChrisBHaynes/status/1928470645303546299">NBA insider Chris Haynes</a>.</p><p>All four coaches' contracts will expire at the end of the month, Haynes adds.</p><p>Graham's tenure in Denver was the longest of the group - he'd been with the team as a player development coach since 2016. Klask joined the Nuggets in 2018, while Jones and Saunders were hired in 2021 and 2022, respectively.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>The quartet were all members of former head coach Mike Malone's staff and played key roles in the Nuggets' 2023 championship run.</p><p>Malone was fired in early April and replaced by David Adelman, who was named full-time head coach last week.</p><p> </p><p> </p>
