There has been "little appetite" from within the Premier League to strip Manchester City of the various titles won between 2009 and 2018 despite the club reportedly being found guilty of financial wrongdoing, reports Dan Roan of BBC Sport.
The Athletic's David Ornstein reported Friday that Man City, the dominant force in English soccer over the past decade, were found guilty on 114 of 115 charges for breaching the Premier League's financial regulations.
That has inevitably created speculation that the trophies captured by the club during the period in question could be stripped and retroactively awarded to the respective runners-up.
But within the Premier League - both from the organization and its clubs - that isn't the preferred method of handling the situation, according to Roan.
That doesn't mean it couldn't still happen, however, as the final decision will be made by an independent panel following a "sanction hearing" that has yet to take place, Roan adds.
Other potential penalties include fines or a points deduction.

Though other clubs may not push to be retroactively awarded various titles, impacted clubs are seeking legal advice and considering compensation claims, sources told Rob Dawson of ESPN.
Multiple clubs believe they have have lost out on significant revenues - prize money, sponsorship bonuses, and income from participating in European competitions - as a result of Man City's success, Dawson adds.
Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak said Saturday he believes the club will prove its innocence in the matter.
"The Premier League process still has a long way to run, and our confidence and intent in proving the club's innocence is just as strong as when this began," he said in a statement issued on Man City's website.
"While some people have been quick to reach their own conclusions, and there is so much noise swirling around us, nothing has changed. We have faced challenges together before and have prevailed. There remain many who want to undermine the momentum of our club. We will not give them that opportunity."
