The Detroit Tigers placed reliever Kenley Jansen on the 15-day injured list with pelvic inflammation, the team announced Thursday.
Detroit recalled left-handed pitcher Drew Sommers in a corresponding move.
Jansen will visit a specialist to get a better read on his injury and a possible timeline, manager A.J. Hinch said following Thursday's loss to the Los Angeles Angels, according to MLive.com's Evan Woodbery.
Jansen exited Wednesday's victory over the Angels with two outs in the ninth inning. He appeared to be moving gingerly while covering first base on a ground ball earlier in the inning. After walking Zach Neto on four pitches, he signaled to the dugout and left the mound with trainers.

"He didn't feel pain," Hinch said Wednesday of the play at first base, according to Jason Beck of MLB.com. "He just kind of felt like his leg gave out."
"Once he looked in the dugout again, it was going to be over for him," the skipper added.
The 38-year-old has been dealing with pelvic and groin issues throughout the season. He missed a few days early in the year because of right groin tightness but wasn't placed on the IL at that time.
Jansen, who moved into third place on MLB's career saves list in April, carries a 4.80 ERA over 18 appearances this season. He's racked up seven saves, 19 strikeouts, and nine walks across 15 innings.
The four-time All-Star joined Detroit on a one-year, $11-million deal in December.
Starting pitcher Casey Mize, meanwhile, injured his groin Wednesday and later underwent an MRI, though there's been no word on his status going forward.
