The New York Mets are working on adding former Minnesota Twins president of baseball operations Derek Falvey to their front office, sources told The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal and Will Sammon.
Falvey's job title is unknown and the deal isn't official, but he is reportedly expected to take on a significant role in the Mets' decision-making.
The 43-year-old previously worked with Mets president of baseball operations David Stearns when they were both employed by the Cleveland Guardians.
Falvey parted ways with the Twins in January after he helped the franchise reach the postseason four times, including winning the AL Central in 2019, 2020, and 2023.
The Mets are winding down a disastrous campaign. They own a 72-85 record despite one of baseball's largest payrolls.
New York removed the interim managerial tag from Andy Green on Tuesday. Before accepting the full-time managerial position, Green was expected to return to his role as senior vice president of player development.
