Oklahoma City Thunder center Chet Holmgren is expected to miss 8-to-10 weeks after undergoing a procedure to repair a patellar tendon tear in his right knee, the team announced.
Holmgren complained of discomfort in his knee Sunday and underwent a biological treatment Friday following consultations with specialists.
The 24-year-old joins a growing list of significant injury absences for Oklahoma City, which was already without Jalen Williams and Cason Wallace for an indefinite period due to a fractured leg and torn shoulder labrum, respectively. The two suffered their injuries in a game against the Los Angeles Clippers on Oct. 25 - the same day Holmgren first experienced knee discomfort.
Thunder guard Alex Caruso is also currently sidelined with a sprained ankle. Caruso, Williams, and Wallace were three of the Thunder's five starters in their first three games this season, joined by reigning MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and big man Isaiah Hartenstein.
Wallace underwent surgery on his left shoulder Friday and will be re-evaluated before the end of the regular season.
