COLUMBUS, OH - MARCH 17: Oso Ighodaro #13 places Marquette into the next slot of the bracket after the teams win over Vermont Catamounts during the first round of the 2023 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament held at Nationwide Arena on March 17, 2023 in Columbus, Ohio.

No. 16 seed Fairleigh Dickinson's shocking win broke the hearts of Purdue fans everywhere, but it also broke every remaining perfect bracket for this year's March Madness.

All told, the chances of a perfect bracket were extremely slim. There has never been a 63-0 mark in recorded history, and the chances of it ever occurring are 1 in 9.2 quintillion.

Most unblemished brackets were ruined Thursday after No. 15 Princeton stunned No. 2 Arizona, but the second-ever 16-over-1 upset put the nail in the coffin. All told, the 10, 11, 13, 15, and 16 seeds have each won at least one game in this year's Big Dance.

While the odds are overwhelmingly against everyone, brackets will still be made year after year. But who knows, next season could be the first perfect bracket. Or maybe in 9.2-quintillion seasons from now.
