CLEVELAND (AP) — Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson has pleaded not guilty after receiving a speeding ticket on Aug. 26.
Watson entered the plea Wednesday in Cleveland Municipal Court, according to court records. The next hearing is set for Sept. 23.
Watson, who turns 31 on Monday, was pulled over by Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers for allegedly going 86 mph in a 60 mph zone in a 2022 Ram pickup truck on Interstate 480 in Cleveland during morning rush hour.
Watson will make his first start since Week 7 of the 2024 season when the Browns open the season against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. He won the starting quarterback competition over Shedeur Sanders.
