New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart left Monday's game against the Los Angeles Rams in the first quarter and walked to the locker room with a knee injury.
The Giants later announced Dart wouldn't return.
Dart went down after throwing a pass on third-and-8 on the Giants' first offensive possession. He clutched his left knee following the play, in which he got tangled with Rams defenders Josaiah Stewart and Byron Young. Dart spent time in the medical tent before heading to the locker room.
There's optimism within the organization that the injury won't sideline the Giants quarterback long term.
"He's going to be OK," Giants general manager Joe Schoen told ESPN's Laura Rutledge.

Dart completed 3 of 5 passes for 20 yards on the Giants' opening drive. Jameis Winston replaced him at quarterback.
Dart entered Monday on the heels of an impressive showing in the Giants' season opener. He passed for 230 yards and three touchdowns in their 28-20 win over the Dallas Cowboys.
The Giants selected the Ole Miss product in the first round of the 2025 draft. Dart started 12 of 14 games as a rookie before suffering a concussion against the Bears in November. He threw for 2,272 yards, rushed for 487 yards, and totaled 24 touchdowns last season.
