The Dallas Cowboys activated Pro Bowl guard Tyler Smith for Thursday night's matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Smith had been on injured reserve all season due to a thumb injury that required surgery. His initial recovery timeline was four-to-six weeks.

The 25-year-old is an essential piece of Dallas' offensive line. Smith has started 63 games since being drafted 24th overall in 2022, and he's excelled since transitioning from tackle to guard after his rookie season.

The Cowboys rewarded Smith with a four-year, $96-million extension last year.

Dallas is 2-2 entering Thursday's prime-time clash, while Tampa Bay is 0-4.
