Detroit Lions star Jahmyr Gibbs tallied two scores in Sunday's 45-21 win over the Arizona Cardinals to surpass Barry Sanders for the most touchdowns before turning 25.
With one record in the rearview mirror, Gibbs is now setting his sights on LaDainian Tomlinson's single-season touchdown mark of 31.
"For sure. I'm trying to get that," Gibbs said of chasing Tomlinson's record.
Tomlinson produced 28 rushing scores and three receiving touchdowns during the 2006 campaign.
Gibbs is similarly doing damage on the ground and through the air, having tallied seven rushing scores and a pair of receiving touchdowns through five appearances this season.
The three-time Pro Bowler ranks second in the NFL in carries (105) and third in rushing yards (504). He's only the sixth player in league history to have more than 740 total yards and at least nine touchdowns through the first five games of a season, according to Benjamin Raven of MLive.com.
Gibbs registered a career-best 20 touchdowns in 2024, including an NFL-leading 16 rushing scores.
