The Kansas City Chiefs are signing veteran kicker Justin Tucker to their practice squad, head coach Andy Reid confirmed Wednesday.
Tucker last played in the NFL in 2024. The Baltimore Ravens released Tucker in June 2025 after 16 massage therapists accused him of engaging in inappropriate sexual behavior during sessions at several high-end spas and wellness centers in the Baltimore area. The league suspended him for the first 10 games of the 2025 season for violating its personal conduct policy, but he ended up not signing with a team that year.
"He's done his suspension. ... I'll leave it at that." Reid told reporters, including Nate Taylor of ESPN.
He added, "We try to do our homework the best way we can, make sure things are OK."
The addition of Tucker comes as Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker continues to struggle. Butker went 1-for-3 on field-goal attempts in last week's loss to the Seattle Seahawks, and he's 4-for-7 over the team's last two games. He's made 68.8% of his field-goal attempts this season (11/16), which would stand as a career-worst conversion rate.
"We love Harrison," Reid said. "He understands the business and how it works. ... He's struggling a little bit. Butker will get most of the reps this week. It's fluid."
Reid also explained that Butker's technique is "off," leading to his shortcomings.
A seven-time Pro Bowler, Tucker has been successful on 89.1% of his field-goal tries over his career. However, in his most recent season in 2024, Tucker converted a career-low 73.3% of his attempts.
The Chiefs (5-1) take on the Denver Broncos (5-2) in a pivotal AFC West battle Sunday.
