The Tampa Bay Lightning are Zach Werenski's team of choice, TSN's Pierre LeBrun reported on Monday's "Insider Trading."
The star defenseman is reportedly unlikely to sign an extension with the Columbus Blue Jackets, and the team is listening to trade offers for the Norris Trophy winner.
The Blue Jackets want to make a trade that helps their current roster, rather than one centered around picks and prospects, LeBrun reports.
Werenski is signed through the 2027-28 season at a cap hit just over $9.5 million. The 28-year-old owns a full no-movement clause and would have to approve any trade. He's eligible to sign an extension beginning July 1, 2027.
The Dallas Stars and Toronto Maple Leafs remain in the mix for Werenski, the Philadelphia Flyers "badly" want to acquire him, and there are other interested teams as well, reports LeBrun.
Werenski tallied 22 goals and 81 points in 75 games en route to being named the NHL's top defenseman for the first time. He won Olympic gold with Team USA in February.
The Blue Jackets drafted Werenski eighth overall in 2015. Over 10 seasons in Columbus, he's racked up 135 goals and 465 points in 642 games.
