Colorado Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog disapproved of the hit Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Artyom Levshunov laid on Avalanche defenseman Cale Makar during Monday's game.

"I didn't like it at all," Landeskog said postgame, according to Altitude TV. "I thought it was more than just a two-minute elbowing, too. I think he leaves his feet, and I think he makes head contact, so I think it at least should've been reviewed for that."

Landeskog said he went after Levshunov during the rest of the game since the officials didn't issue what he believed to be appropriate punishment for the hit.

"If the refs aren't going to call it, then we have to take it into our hands a little bit," Landeskog said.

Here's a look at the hit:

Levshunov received a two-minute minor for elbowing, plus a coincidental roughing minor with Martin Necas for the ensuing scrum.

Makar wasn't injured on the play and logged a game-high 23 minutes of ice time.

Landeskog avenged Makar later in the contest by laying a devastating hip check on Levshunov that sent the Blackhawks blue-liner airborne.

The Avalanche beat the Blackhawks 5-2. The Central Division foes don't meet again until Feb. 28.
