Cristiano Ronaldo has ended his international soccer career, the 41-year-old Portuguese superstar announced on social media on Thursday.

The decision comes on the heels of a public feud with Portugal coach Jorge Jesus. Ronaldo abruptly walked out of Portugal camp on September 30 during the last international break after not subbing on during a 2-1 win over Norway. He later accused Jesus of "broken promises" about giving him playing time.

The Portuguese federation handed Ronaldo a 30-day suspension and $286 fine for walking out.

With the suspension now served, Ronaldo has decided not to play for his country again. Portugal's squad for the next Nations League fixtures is expected to be announced Friday.
