Rays' Caminero: First 2 games of World Series 'not who we are'

Tampa Bay Rays star third baseman Junior Caminero believes his team hasn't played up to its capabilities during the World Series.

The Rays blew a four-run lead in Saturday's Game 2 against the Milwaukee Brewers, dropping the first two contests at American Family Field.

"I guarantee you one thing, that nobody in this clubhouse wants to play the baseball that we've played the last couple days. That's not who we are," Caminero said postgame through an interpreter, according to Adam Berry of MLB.com. "But at the end of the day, we've played the game in the last two days, and this is the type of baseball that's unfolded. So, it's the game. It's unfortunate. "

After being seen shouting in Tampa Bay's dugout in the seventh inning, Caminero explained he wanted to motivate his teammates following an uncharacteristically sloppy defensive performance by the club.

"Trying to help the team," Caminero said. "Trying to help the team and get our heads up, right? Just trying to create some energy and get some life back into us."

The 23-year-old added: "We had to get outs. In that moment, we weren't doing our job, and against Milwaukee, if you give up outs, they're gonna do that. They're gonna use that against you, and that's what happens. So, I was trying to say the message (that), 'Hey, we've got to get outs.'"

Only 10 teams in MLB history have won the Fall Classic after dropping the first two games. The 1996 New York Yankees were the last club to accomplish the feat.

The series shifts to Tropicana Field for Monday's Game 3.
