LSU head coach Lane Kiffin is under the impression that the SEC scheduled Saturday's game against Alabama in the afternoon as a personal vendetta against his program.

"I was like, well, if someone thinks the SEC wants us to win this year after what's been going on, they must have just been on Mars the last four months," Kiffin said Wednesday, per On3's Jonathan Wagner. "So I guess when I look at it that way, I'm not surprised.

"Especially in 16 years, this game has been at night here all the time. I never even considered that it wouldn't be at night. So I guess that’s probably naive of me."

The SEC announced Monday that LSU will host Alabama at 3:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, marking the first time since 2010 that the matchup at Tiger Stadium won't take place under the lights. Historically, LSU has been more effective in night games at "Death Valley."

LSU ruffled feathers among college football's governing bodies earlier this year by recruiting Dae'Quan Wright and Zxavian Harris to join the Tigers, even though both players had already attended NFL training camps. In response, the SEC filed a lawsuit against LSU and threatened to expel it from the conference.
