Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Tyquan Thornton will undergo surgery for a dislocated ankle and is expected to miss three-to-four months, sources told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.
Thornton could return late in the season or during the playoffs, Rapoport adds.
Thornton suffered the ailment after hauling in a 55-yard reception late in the fourth quarter of Sunday's victory over the Las Vegas Raiders. He stood up to celebrate the play after being tackled but then fell back to the turf upon realizing the severity of his injury. Thornton was carted off moments later.

Thornton finished with team leads of five catches, 111 receiving yards, and two receiving touchdowns. He's been a crucial part of the Chiefs' offense through four games, as his 19.9 yards per reception rank third among 115 qualifying wideouts across the league, according to TruMedia.
Kansas City has reportedly expressed interest in reuniting with free-agent wide receiver Tyreek Hill, who's targeting a November return after undergoing surgery over a year ago to repair a dislocated knee and multiple torn ligaments.
The Chiefs improved to 4-0 with their 30-27 win over the Raiders. They'll face the Los Angeles Chargers (0-4) on Oct. 18 following their bye week.
